If you sell your home, you may be able to transfer your Sunnova service agreement to the homebuyer, passing the solar benefits as well1. If you’re the seller, it’s important that you contact us by phone at 866.SUNNOVA, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as you decide to sell your home. Sunnova requests 30 days, but no more than 3 months advance notice of a home closing in order to begin the transfer process.
When you call to inform us of your home sale, you will need to provide us with the following information:
- Name(s) of any potential buyer(s)
- Name of escrow company
- Name of title company
- Name of anyone else who is eligible to check on the status of the solar system transfer
When transferring your service plan, a potential homebuyer must pass a credit check and sign a transfer agreement. It’s a very similar same process to the one that every new Sunnova customer goes through.
Once the home sale has closed, the transfer agreement goes into effect and the buyer is officially a Sunnova customer.
1. New homeowner is required to meet Sunnova’s credit requirements. Refer to your agreement for conditions and limitations.
