What are the different battery configurations?

If you're a Sunnova customer, we will set up your battery in one of three ways. You will be able to make changes to your battery configuration after installation.

Self-Consumption

During the day, any excess solar energy will charge your battery. At night or during times of low solar production, your home will use a combination of energy stored in your battery and electricity from your utility, if needed.

Backup Power

During the day, any excess solar energy will charge your battery. At night or during times of low solar production, your home will use electricity from your utility. You will only be able to draw energy from your battery during a power outage.

TOU Optimization

During the day, any excess solar energy will charge your battery. During peak rate times, your home will use your solar panels and energy stored in the battery. Any excess energy will be sent to your utility to maximize net metering credits. At night or during times of low solar production, your home will use electricity from your utility.
